Pray for JosHundreds of corpses of men, women, and children littered burnt houses, roads, bush paths, farm areas, and hiding places in the wake of violence that erupted early Sunday morning March 7 in Jos (in Nigeria's northern Plateau state). According to news wire reports, "Muslim residents of the villages in Plateau state had been warned by phone text message, two days prior to the attack, so they could make good their escape before the exit points were sealed off."
Archbishop Ben Kwashi reported this week that the violence was so severe that some of the communities may never again be recognized -- generations have literally been wiped out. Bishop Martyn Minns urges, "Please pray that the Living God would comfort all who mourn, heal those who are suffering, and bring peace to Jos through the transforming message of the gospel of Jesus."
Canon Chris Sugden of Anglican Mainstream is working with Archbishop Kwashi to determine the best way we in the UK and North America can help. As soon as a determination is made, we will inform you.
David Pileggi writes, "What I do know is that it is much more dangerous to publish a cartoon of Mohammed than to slice apart a Christian with a machete."
