CANA Chaplains' Deanery
In today’s society, when people think of ordained clergy, the most common picture is that of a church or parish minister. While the church minister carries an incredible responsibility to shepherd a congregation, many people need and seek the guidance and presence of ordained and highly trained deacons and priests at times outside the usual weekend service of a traditional church.
Our Chaplains serve in all branches of the military. Since 1776 when the first US military chaplains were instituted by the US congress, our service men and women have served and sacrificed for our country and our freedom. It is our honor to serve them. As ambassadors of Jesus Christ we bring the good news of peace and eternal life to our nations military.
Under the oversight of the Rt. Rev'd Derek Jones, our Chaplains serve in all areas of life, including our federal and local governments, Fire and Police Departments, hospitals, and hospices. The Deanery gets them ready to serve.
"Our Chaplains are a vital and important part of CANA's vision to effectivelly promote the life transforming Gospel message of Jesus Christ," says CANA Bishop Julian Dobbs.
